Richard Gurley’s career has run the gamut of value-based care. He is founder and CEO of Ryse Health, a hybrid specialty clinic dramatically improving outcomes for patients living with type 2 diabetes. He was previously EVP of operations at WelbeHealth, leading deployment of the PACE model of care for vulnerable seniors, and VP of Payer Partnerships at Evolent Health, supporting health systems moving from fee-for-service to value. He began his career with Tennessee government, leading pharmacy cost containment innovation with TennCare (the state’s Medicaid plan) and the state employee group plan, and then went to McKinsey and Company, where he supported health plans and health systems deploying payment innovation models and high-performance narrow networks. He has also served as advisor to numerous health tech and tech-enabled services companies and as a guest lecturer at four universities.
Richard graduated Summa Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Public Policy Studies and received his MBA from Duke University. He lives in Washington, DC with his wife Sima and son Deccan. In his free time, he enjoys ultimate frisbee and board games and created the game Urban Tribes.
