What challenges or gaps in care are you focused on?
At Lyft Healthcare, we’re focused on improving access to care for the ~10M Americans who miss or delay necessary medical care each year simply because they lack access to transportation
What initiatives are you currently spearheading to improve health?
We’re providing tens of millions of Healthcare rides each year, primarily to Medicaid and Medicare recipients. We have several research studies inflight focused on maternal care, social isolation and loneliness, and behavioral health
What necessary collaborations/partnerships have you established within and/or outside of your organization in developing your initiatives?
Today, we partner with >4k healthcare organizations → this includes hospitals, health systems, clinics, payers, transportation managers and even some digital health players. The largest population in need of transportation is Medicaid, and over the last 5 years we’ve become an authorized NEMT provider in 24 states for their Medicaid population which has significantly increased our impact.
What are your measurement criteria for success/or current measurable improvements have you realized from the initiative?
■ Administrative: we are looking to reduce no-shows, complaints and wait times; while improving member satisfaction and on-time performance
■ Clinical: we are looking to increase in PCP visits and HEDIS scores; while reducing hospital and ambulance utilization
What gives your hope for the future in health care?
Frankly, the lack of options or alternatives brings a healthy sense of urgency, and we are starting to see pockets of progress in value based care. Additionally, although Healthcare is never the first mover, recent progress in AI/ML gives me hope that we might finally be able to remove some of the administrative burden.
