How are you navigating the AI boom in healthcare?

We have to embrace the new tools that are entering the market, and tech is only set to evolve more and more.   But, we still believe in the power of human connection so we work hard to keep boundaries between the two while leveraging its ability to create automated efficiencies for our teams so we can do more for our clients and our industry.  Certain types of technology are crucial for growth in healthcare, but few things can replace the relationship between a doctor and a patient, and we don’t want it to.  

What motivates you to keep doing what you do?

Creating a better, overall healthcare experience for every patient. The best success stories are the ones where patients get what they need, or they start getting better.  Saving employers money is great, but being able to curate the healthcare experience so that patients are prioritized with doctors who have time and energy to treat them is more rewarding and a greater measure of our success than we can adequately express.  We had one patient who had been receiving the wrong type of care for an ongoing cancer battle and one of our nurses caught it.  There had been no progress for over a year and the prognosis was grim, but once we got involved and changed the care path, the patient eventually went into remission.  We have to help people understand that these instances are often truly a matter of life or death.  When there is transparency and when we get the profiting interests out of the way, we can focus on caring for people, and that’s what we are dedicated to doing at E Powered Benefits.  

What is the one piece of advice you would give an aspiring healthcare leader?

No matter how many classes you take, conferences you attend, articles you read… you will always learn more from connecting with others.  Genuinely connecting.  Genuinely listening.  Hearing other perspectives and experiences, and even their ideas or failures, will always give us more education more than any certification or training course could.  Connect with those that want to see you succeed and vice versa. Be willing to teach but be more willing to learn, no matter how long you’ve been doing this.  Creating a community amongst your peers will be your most valuable tool over and over. 

What initiatives are you currently spearheading to improve healthcare?

Direct Primary Care physicians and practices for every single self-funded health plan we create for our clients. We are absolutely over-the-moon to announce our partnership with Hint Health to further the execution of nationwide direct primary care within E Powered Performance Plans. Bridging the gap between doctors and patients has proven to be the best strategy in healthcare reform we’ve seen in several decades. It both curbs substantial spending for employers and restores the delivery of high-quality healthcare to patients.

What is the differentiator of your organization as compared to others in the industry? 

We were the first consulting firm that is dedicated on a fee-only approach, having been founded in early 2018.  We eliminate commission incentives from all health plan contracts so that we can truly focus on the needs of our clients without ever being swayed by increasing commissions or bonuses.  We are also the only agency in the US (currently) that constructs all of our health plans without any involvement from health insurer giants. We believe in collaborating with our innovative solution providers and plan partners to create something that is simply not purchasable anywhere else while outperforming any traditional health plan many multiples over.  Our firm has crafted unique mentorship programs and certification courses to ensure our legacy lives on in new consultants coming into the industry.
