Fast Five with Kristina Saffran

What challenges or gaps in care are you focused on?

Almost 30 million Americans will suffer from an eating disorder in their lifetime, and only 23% of them will seek treatment, and an even smaller fraction will receive treatment that works. My focus lies in ensuring eating disorder treatment is accessible, affordable, and evidence-based.

What initiatives are you currently spearheading to improve health?

At Equip, I am leading the charge in providing virtual, evidence-based eating disorder treatment that is accessible, affordable, and effective for patients of all ages nationwide.

What necessary collaborations/partnerships have you established within and/or outside of your organization in developing your initiatives?

I collaborate closely with major public and private health insurance providers, mental health professionals, and advocacy groups to ensure that our treatment model meets the needs of patients and families while navigating the complexities of the healthcare system.

What is your measurement criteria for success/or current measurable improvements have you realized from the initiative?

The measurement criteria for success include tracking key clinical outcomes, such as reductions in eating disorder behaviors, improvements in mental health, and patient and family satisfaction. These outcomes reflect the positive impact of our treatment model and drive our commitment to providing eating disorder treatment that works for anyone who needs it.

What gives you hope for the future in health care?

The increasing recognition of the importance of mental health gives me hope. With continued innovation and collaboration, I believe more people will be able to access effective treatment and reach lasting recovery.
