Eric De Jonge, M.D. serves as Section Director of Geriatrics at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. His main goal is to create skilled and affordable teams that help frail elders and their families live with dignity.

He served as President of the American Academy of Home Care Medicine (AAHCM) in 2017-19, was on the AAHCM Board for 2009-21, and serves on the AAHCM Public Policy committee. In 2003, he was named House Call Physician of the Year. In 2007, he helped develop and advocate for a Medicare reform law called Independence at Home (IAH), to support the field of home care medicine and reduce Medicare costs.

He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated with honors from Stanford University and Yale School of Medicine. He completed residency in primary care internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview and fellowships in Health Policy at Georgetown and in Geriatrics at Johns Hopkins. He is on teaching faculty with Johns Hopkins Medicine.

He is married to Dr. Melissa Turner, and has two children, Maya (24) and Nathaniel (23).
