Bio

Nidia S. Williams, PhD, is Vice President of Quality & Patient Safety for the Lifespan Corporation in Providence, Rhode Island.  In this role, Dr. Williams is responsible for providing operational oversight for all core quality and patient safety functions, including process and performance improvement initiatives for achieving clinical, and service excellence.   She received her Bachelor and Master degrees in Speech/Language Pathology from UMass/Amherst and completed post-graduate level studies at Boston University School of Medicine.  Additionally, she is a certified TapRooT® Instructor and participated as a Baldrige examiner in the Massachusetts MassExcellence program. Dr. Williams earned her Lean certification and Six Sigma Black Belt and Master Black Belt at the Executive Development Center at Bryant University in Rhode Island and received her PhD in Population Health at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and was awarded fellowship in NAHQ in 2017. Dr. Williams currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Healthcare Quality and is currently the President of the NAHQ Board of Directors.
