What is the top challenge or obstacle facing health care today?
Managing spend while simultaneously enhancing the employee experience.
What has you most optimistic about the future of health care?
Organizations and employers seem to be focused on better integration points to really benefit the whole person. Not only from warm transfer across the ecosystem but from claims data and vendor summits where we are beginning to connect the dots across medical, Rx, mental health and absence, paid time off policies. We have a long way to go but seeing employers require their partners to coordinate across a multi lens viewpoint into employee health is very exciting.
How have you helped your employees manage stress caused by the pandemic?
Through flexibility in working environment and locations recognizing the pandemic highlighted how we are all as individuals managing various external environments that require options. A one size fits all is not going to work for a multigenerational work force.
What are some of the key trends you are seeing with respect to employer-sponsored health care?
Gene therapy education and cost management, digger deeper into mental health and broader wellbeing to get to the root cause of what’s driving conditions, enhancing the employee experience to attract and retain. I also see a shift in benefits running in parallel to talent and development departments in organizations to being more collaborative across projects and programs being offered to employees.
What does employee well-being mean to you?
It means looking at the whole person not just the physical health of an individual. Taking into consideration physical, mental, financial, social determinants of health, generational considerations and also tying that back career development and growth.
What does health care disruption mean to you?
Innovation and evolving seem to be the trending terms in many of the conversations I am having. Thinking outside the box of the ways things have been done before and being open to experiment with alternative approaches.
